Eyewitnesses said the armed attackers, wielding guns and machetes, invaded the hostel around 2 a.m., beating students and stealing valuables, including laptops, phones, and cash.
The incident, students say, highlights the institution’s poor security.
Outraged, students staged a protest, blocking the school gate and demanding better protection. Police dispersed them with tear gas as tensions escalated.
The Students’ Union Government condemned the attack, calling it “unacceptable,” while the polytechnic management announced the immediate closure of the school, giving students two hours to vacate.
Police say they are working with the institution to prevent further unrest.
