Department of State Services Says Emefiele In Custody

The Department of State Services (DSS) says it has arrested the suspended Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele.
The DSS confirmed the arrest in a statement issued to news men on Saturday by it Public Relations Officer, Peter Afunanya who stated that Emefiele is in custody for investigative reasons.
The service enjoined the public, particularly the Media, to apply utmost caution in the reportage and narratives concerning this.
“The Department of State Services (DSS) hereby confirms that Mr Godwin Emefiele, the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is now in its custody for some investigative reasons” the DSS said.
It would be recalled that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday night suspended Emefiele.
The suspension according to a statement by the office of the Director of Information, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Willie Bassey is with immediate effect.
The Statement said the suspension is to allow for probe of Emefiele's Office. “This is sequel to the ongoing investigation of his office and the planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy,” the statement said.
