The Super Eagles of Nigeria have lost at home to Guinea Bissau in the Total Energies AFCONQ 2023 competition, as the ‘‘Big Boys’’ lost grip of the top spot in group A, with the visitors taking all 3pts.
Jose Peseiro’s boys have lost four games in a row, scoring one goal and conceding nine.
The 29th-minute goal was all the visitors needed to shock the 2013 AFCON winners on home soil and hand them a famous victory.
The last time the Super Eagles were out in a competitive match was the historic 10-0 drubbing of Sao Tome and Principe in June 2022.
The Eagles resumed action, after enduring an iconic 2022 World Cup without them, as they looked to seal a qualification ticket for 2023 AFCON in a double-header against Guinea-Bissau.
Coach Jose Peseiro invited 23 players for the two-legged tie with the usual suspects such as Victor Osimhen, Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi and Ademola Lookman in the team.
