The Falcons claimed their 10th WAFCON title at the weekend

Nigeria’s Super Falcons received a hero's welcome at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja after returning from Morocco, where they secured their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title- a record title.
The Super Falcons won the championship over the weekend with a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory against the host nation, Morocco, in Rabat.
Captain Rasheedat Ajibade was the first to disembark from the aircraft at approximately 2:45 pm with the trophy, followed by her teammates and officials.
The team was received by a Federal Government delegation led by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, alongside the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development and the Minister of Information and National Orientation. The delegation also included the Governors of Kwara and Imo States.
Also present was the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko, who led senior sports officials to welcome the champions amidst an atmosphere of celebration, highlighted by performances from a cultural troupe.
The Super Falcons will later be hosted at a presidential reception at the State House, where President Bola Tinubu is expected to honour the players and officials for their historic achievement.
