The lawmaker representing Badagry Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Solomon Bonu, says their need for BRT buses to be deployed to the Badagry axis of the state for commuters to enjoy the palliative by the State Government.

This he said will help reduce the effects of the hike in transportation, occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy.

Honourable Bonu who raised the motion during  plenary yesterday highlighted  the urgent need for the deployment of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) buses to the Badagry axis.

"The transportation system in Badagry has long been a concern for its residents, with inadequate and unreliable public transportation options causing inconvenience and hardship for commuters. The recent hike in transportation costs has only exacerbated the situation, burdening the already-struggling populace with additional financial strains." The lawmaker said.

Bonu said his call for BRT buses to be introduced in the axis is a significant step towards alleviating the plight of the local commuters. The BRT system, known for its efficiency, affordability, and capacity, has been successfully implemented in various areas of Lagos, revolutionizing public transportation and easing the burden on citizens.

He said his proposition aims to not only address the transportation woes if residents  but also offer a palliative to counteract the effects of the recent hike in transportation fares.

"If implemented, this move will undoubtedly bring relief to thousands of residents who rely on public transportation for their daily commute. Access to a reliable and affordable transport system will not only enhance the quality of life for the people of Badagry but also open up new opportunities for economic growth and development in the region." said Bonu.

It is believed that the implementation this plan will require collaborative efforts and proper allocation of resources, while the potential benefits for the citizens outweigh the investment required.
