The Senator representing Kogi Central senatorial district, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, on Friday condemned the recent attack on the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, which resulted in abduction of several students of the school by gunmen.
She equally called for improved security, as she described the attack as "unfortunate and unacceptable," adding that innocent students should not be subjected to such "heinous act."
Briefing reporters in Kogi, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan stressed that learning environments must be protected from such attacks, urging security agencies to ensure the safe release of the students and bring the perpetrators to justice.
She also offered her support and assistance to ensure the students' safe return, as she emphasised the need for measures to prevent similar incidents.
According to information released by the university, the attack occurred at approximately 8:23 pm on Thursday, May 9th, when gunmen attacked the university, located in Adavi local government area of Kogi, and abducted an unspecified number of students who were studying for their first-semester examinations.
