PM Modi Meets Greek Counterpart Kyriakos Mitsotakis In Athens

Greek PM Mitsotakis welcomed Indian counterpart Modi on official visit.

The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on Friday arrived in Greece on a daylong visit for talks with the European country's top leadership to strengthen bilateral ties, which is the first by an Indian premier in 40 years. 

Modi arrived in the Greek capital from South Africa where he attended the 15th BRICS Summit and held bilateral meetings with several world leaders to further cement India's relations with those countries.
"PM @narendramodi sets foot in the historic city of Athens for his first-ever visit to Greece. Warmly greeted by FM George Gerapetritis at the airport," Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

He further said, "India and Greece enjoy civilizational ties, which have strengthened in recent years through cooperation in areas like maritime transport, defence, trade and investments and people-to-people ties." 

Baguchi noted that during his visit to Greece, the PM would receive a ceremonial reception on his arrival and would also hold meetings with the Greek President and Prime Minister, stressing that he would also meet his Greek counterpart Kyriakos Mitsotakis, adding that the leaders will discuss ways to further deepen the ties between the two nations. 

The spokesperson said Modi would also have an interaction with the Indian community in Greece. noting that he would also lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Athens and interact with the Indian community.
