Veteran Nollywood actor Patrick Doyle, has advised media practitioners to imbibe the culture of integrity and truth while carrying out their duties.
Doyle made this known over the weekend in Lagos at an event organized in commemoration of his 45 years of broadcast career, alongside 65 years on earth.
The veteran broadcaster also advised journalists to use their platform to speak truth and be the voice of a common man. “it’s important to have a good estimation of your value, people need to value themselves, and when you value yourself you would be able to store up some integrity.”
“For you to practice journalism in this new age, you have to have it at the back of your mind to be truthful, because integrity is sold cheaply.
“put a value on integrity and you would see yourself stand out among your peers.
“There is no alternative to integrity, in any enterprise you find yourself, especially in the media, where truth is meant to be part of what you are selling. Show up your integrity and do your work properly.” He added.
However the founder of CMC and the Senior Special Adviser to the Actors Guild of Actors, Ambassador Cornel Udofia, told reporters that his reputable media organizations sported the veteran Broadcaster as an icon to be celebrated and awarded after 45 years of undiluted work in the media space.
Udofi therefore revealed that Doyle’ consistency in the media space, and the fact that he successfully reinvented himself distinguished him from his peers, stressing that due to those facts, CMC decided to honor him with a lifetime award.
“Patric Doyle is one of Nigeria's veteran broadcasters and actors. For 45 good years, this man has been very consistent in the movie industry and in broadcasting.
“What distinguishes him from every other person is the fact that he has been able to reinvent himself as a broadcaster, actor and as a businessman.
“That is why from CMC Gladiators we are going to honor him with a lifetime achievement award. We have a gift for his hard work.”
Udofia therefore revealed what CMC has been doing since the beging of January, 2025, noting that the organization has gone global.
“About two months ago we had to travel to Cross Rivers State to honor the Commissioner of Police, CP Grilmor, then we moved to Akwaibom to celebrate the Commissioner of Police there.
“We also donated two trophies to my Primary School, in which they played a match in my honor. We need to give back to society.”
Also Briefing reporters about the veteran broadcaster, one of his close friends Kayode Anibaba, revealed that what distinguishes Doyle from his peers is his act of integrity and truth,
“He is one of the top three if you ask me. He is a word smith, he is brilliant and he always looks at home when facing the camera, he is a wonderful guy.
“Versatility is it. He can go from plain media into acting, into drama. He is just too gifted.
Anibab therefore encouraged media practitioners to imbibe integrity while carrying out their duties, noting that Olu commitment can make journalists achieve their dreams.
“Journalist should be true to themselves and be professional to the fullest. There is no way around it, as you learn how to not cut corners.
“Be a professional and do what is right, you would see that sky is your limit. It might not bring money at the begging, but once you are rigged and committed, Sky is the limit.” He stressed.
Still at the event to celebrate Doyle, the Chairman Copyright Society of Nigeria, COSON, Chief Tony Okoregi, said what distinguishes the veteran from his peers is the fact that he showcases a lot of talent, coupled with his passion to display integrity.
“He is my guy. I can write a book about him. He is incredibly talented and he is like a brother to me, who shows integrity.”
