The Nigeria Football Federation has opened negotiations with the coach of the Super Eagles, Jose Peseiro over a new contract.
The president of the NFF Ibrahim Gusau on Wednesday, who confirmed that Peseiro’s contract ended in July, revealed that talks are ongoing with the coach and his lawyer.
He also revealed that Peseiro had been on a one-year contract, adding that talks were held up because of the delay in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, on which the contract was based.
“We hope to conclude very soon and a decision will be made based on the recommendations of the technical committee,” said Gusau.
In another development, Gusau said the contract of the coach of the country’s female team Randy Waldrum has also expired.
He said a decision on Waldrum would also have to be taken soon, as the team will begin their qualification campaign for the 2024 Paris Olympics next month.
The American led the Super Falcons to the Round of 16 at the Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
