NCPWD Takes Over Accessibility Aviation Projects In Nigeria

The management of Centre For Ability Rehabilitation and Empowerment called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to increase the budgetary allocation for the Disability Commission, stressing that the commission is funded by zero budget.

The National Commission For Person's with Disabilities (NCPWD) has officially taken over the management of Accessibility Aviation project as part of its effort to promotes inclusivity for Persons with Disability and to receive maximum support and attention regarding Aiport facilities in Nigeria.

This was disclosed by the Chairman Disability Commission, James Lalu, during the handing over ceremony by the management of Centre For Ability Rehabilitation and Empowerment.

Lalu revealed that the development aims at ensuring that persons with disabilities have all necessary assistance while navigating through airports, stressing that the commission is committed to deploying its personnel to major airports across Nigeria, in order to provide dedicated assistance to persons with disabilities. 

The Chairman further stated that the commission will deploy sign language interpreters to facilitate seamless communication between deaf individuals and aviation personnel, stating that there would be an increased collaboration with the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, to ensure operations of the commission personnel at airports in Nigeria.

Similarly, the Chief Responsibility Officer For Ability Rehabilitation and Empowerment, Dr chike Odogwu, noted that improving the lives for persons with disabilities in Nigeria in all Aiports cannot be overemphasized, stressing that it shows the system commitments and agreement with the terms of inclusivity for persons with disabilities.

Speaking further, he called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to increase the budgetary allocation for the Disability Commission, stressing that the commission is funded by zero budget.
