Lagos Blue Line Rail Begins Commercial Operations

Lagos Governor Sanwo-olu and other passengers were first set of passengers as Lagos Rail began commercial operations

The Lagos blue line rail was on Monday September 4th opened to passengers for commercial operations

Governor of the state Babajide Sanwo-olu was the first passenger on board the train on a ride from the Marina station to Mile 2.

Passengers spoke about their experiences and how the train will help ease movement of Lagosians.

Co-Founder and Chief Growth Officer of Touch and Pay Technologies Oluwole Michael believes the price of the ride is not on a high side has been speculated in some quarters, giving the advantages it comes with.

He also said Lagosians can benefit from palliative measures put in place by the Lagos state government.

Access 24 reports that The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), says for the first month, the train would run only 12 trips with the locomotive system.

The agency said it will begin the electric-powered train operation with 76 trips while an estimated passenger capacity between 150,000 and 175,000 are expected to take rides from 5:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
