Seventeen military personnel where killed in Southern Ijaw Local Council in Bayelsa State.

The aftermath of the recent killing of 17 Nigerian army personnel took a disturbing twist, as the Ijaw youth council raised alarm over an alleged invasion of Igbomoturu community in Southern Ijaw local council, Bayelsa state.
The Alarm was raised by the IYC president Alaye Theophilus at a briefing in Port Harcourt the Rivers state capital.
Alaye said the community was held hostage by the soldiers, noting that many houses were burnt down, as he questioned the rationale behind the alleged invasion, saying the community has been peaceful prior to the military invasion.
The IYC President while displaying pictures of the bodies on the streets to newsmen, said the community is currently undergoing humanitarian crisis as the military men are preventing people from exiting and entering the community.
Alaye while Calling on the President Tinubu to hear the cry of the Ijaw community, appealed to the Nigeria military to ensure there are no reprisal attack while they are rooting for the culprits.
