Nigerian Government Announces N5bn Palliative For States, FCT

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State disclosed the news of the palliatives after the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja on Thursday.

The Government of Presiedent Bola Timubu has announced a N5bn palliative for each state of the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory to cushion the impact of the removal of the petrol subsidy.

This announcement was made by the governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulu, in Abuja, at the end of Thursday's National Economic Council meeting.

He also revealed that the Federal Government has  released five trucks of rice each to the states.

Governor Zulum revealed that state governors are to procure 100,000 bags of rice, 40,000 bags of maize, and fertilizers.

He said that 52 percent of the funds was given to the state governments as grants while 48% is loan.

The NEC is headed by Vice President Kashim Shettima made up of the governors of the 36 states, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, and other coopted government officials.
