Lawmaker Hands Over Health Centre In Ojota To Lagos Government

The Lagos state government says it will continue to provide affordable and quality health care for Residents of the state.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu said this at the commissioning of a Ultra Modern 80- Bed primary health center in Ojota built by the Lawmaker representing Kosofe Federal Constituency Honourable Rotimi Agunsoye.

The Governor who was represented by the Commissioner of Health Professor Akin Abayomi stated that the social health insurance scheme recently signed into Law by President Muhammadu Buhari is a game changer for the health sector. 

Abayomi said the insurance scheme will help the state offer quality health care to residents as there will not be the issue of lack of finance. "It is now Mandatory that every Nigeria has a social health insurance scheme in their pocket, that law was passed about

four months ago by his Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari, which has changed the dynamics of health delivery in this country because with social insurance health financing becomes a guaranty. With the Guaranty of health financing we can lift Nigerian from mediocre health financing to where we can be giving free health care" said Professor Abayomi.

The Lagos Health Commissioner who thanked Agunsoye for the donation said that Residents of the area will be offered a year free insurance cover to increase the number of citizens being attended to at the health centre. "We will give them health insurance for one year as a catalyst to ensure that this place is going to be a very busy health care facility" he says.

Rotimi Agunsoye, the lawmaker representing Kosofe Federal Constituency in the house of representatives said the facility which is dear to his heart will bring quality and affordable health care close to Residents of Ojota. "One of the dividends of good governance that has always been a tough task for me to deliver to my constituents will henceforth be done with ease with the commissioning of the 80-Bed Ultramodern Primary Health Care Centre, standing right here in Ojota Nursery/Primary School as my legacy project and parting gift to the good people of Kosofe Federal Constituency" said Agunsoye.

The former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Lagos State appealed to the state government to make good use of the health centre by equipping and putting it to good use.

Access24 reports that the lawmaker during his term in office said he sponsored and Supported 51 bills, undertook 61 projects some completed and others ongoing.

Agunsoye said he empowered his constituents during his Eight 8 year term at the green chamber which ends in June 2023.

He listed some programmes he facilitated while in office as:

1.Attendance at regional and global summits of world leaders on issues of common interest.

2. Increased safety advocacy through a synergy that promotes relationships between the constituents and enforcement agencies.

3. Social well-being programmes to targeted at closing identified major gaps. 

4. Sensitization programmes on a safer and better constituency for schools, artisans and market communities.

5. Quality representation for the constituency in the 8th and 9th National Assemblies.

6. Youth & Women Empowerment Programmes through collaboration with the Lagos State Government among others.
