The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company has announced emergency load management across parts of its network following a fault on the Mando–Shiroro transmission line.
In a statement issued by the Group Head, Corporate Communications, Emeka Ezeh, the company said the development has significantly reduced the power allocation available to its coverage areas, affecting customers in Anambra, Enugu, and Ebonyi states.
Ezeh explained that the National Control Centre in Oshogbo directed a temporary reduction in supply, stating that the NCC has advised the company to operate with limited megawatt allocations across key transmission stations.
The statement read in part, “The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company Plc wishes to inform its customers of emergency load management in parts of its network due to a fault on the Mando–Shiroro Transmission line.
“As a result, the National Control Centre, Oshogbo, has advised that we maintain only 44MW on the Onitsha/New Haven 330kV line (affecting Awo-ada, Agu-Awko, Nibo, New Haven, Nkalagu, and Abakaliki Transmission Stations), and 10MW and 11MW on the Ugwuaji and Apir Transmission Stations, respectively.
“Consequently, customers served by the subsidiary companies of EEDC (MainPower, FirstPower, and EastLand) in Enugu, Anambra, and Ebonyi states are affected by this development.”
The company therefore apologised to customers for the inconvenience and assured them that efforts are underway to restore normal supply.
“We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this may cause our customers and appeal for their understanding as efforts are being made by the relevant stakeholders to clear the fault and restore normal supply,” the statement concluded.
