The Executive Director, Centre for Peace Advancement in Nigeria, has urged Nigerian leaders to prioritise security over politics, to enhance national growth.

Gorro made the call in his Easter message to Nigerians issued on Monday in Abuja.

He said that insecurity was impeding the development of the country and must be handled firmly.

“We should put security above politics, serve the country more diligently, and all hands must be on deck to salvage the situation,” he added.

The cleric said Nigeria has been endowed with both human and natural resources but requires selfless leaders and peace to prosper.

According to him, leaders must show accountability and ensure justice and equity to build a solid foundation for arresting poverty and insecurity in the country.

He said injustice, corruption, greed, and nepotism have contributed to the poverty, hunger, conflict, and violence in the country.

Gorro, therefore, called on Nigerians to support one another at all times to build a community driven by love and compassion.

“The current situation of economic recession that we are facing calls for patience, more hard work, care, and support to the poor,” he added.

He also urged Nigerians to emulate Jesus Christ’s demonstration of love, who died to save humanity, by loving the country in such a manner.
