Manager Milena Bertolini listed Italy midfielder Giulia Dragoni in her team list in the match up against Argentina.
The coach put faith in the youngster who only made her debut for the senior side on 1 July.
The Italy midfielder became one of the youngest players to appear in a Women's World Cup match at the age of 16 years and 259 days as Le Azzurre scored late to beat Argentina.
Italy came out on top in a compelling Group G fixture against Argentina after a late Christiana Girelli header settled the outcome. It looked like the game would end scoreless before the veteran substitute came to the rescue for the Azzurre. Girelli got on the end of Lisa Boattin's cross and looped a header over Vanina Correa to secure a 1-0 victory. Italy had goals by Arianna Caruso and Valentina Giacinti earlier ruled out for offside.
The teenager recently joined Barcelona from Inter on a two-and-a-half-year deal.
The Italian youth international will become the first female player from outside of Spain to train and reside at Barcelona's esteemed La Masia academy.
Dragoni made her Serie A debut for Inter in November 2022, coming off the bench during her side's 0-0 draw with Fiorentina. She has gone on to feature four times in the top flight this season
