Sanwo-Olu Wants The Nigerian Constitution To Recognise Its LCDAs

Governor of Lagos Babajide Sanwo-Olu has called on the Senate committee reviewing the 1999 Constitution to recognise the 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) created in the state in 2003.

Sanwo-Olu made the call at Friday's South-West Zonal Public Hearing on the Review of the 1999 Constitution which held in Lagos.

Sanwo-Olu was represented by his Deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat at the event.

The Lagos Governor said that Southwest Nigerian State deserved recognition of its LCDAs which had been functional for 22 years 

He also said the local councils have served as link between the government and citizens at the grassroots.

Sanwo-Olu said the councils were created to deliver the dividends of democracy to people at the grassroots.

The governor encouraged all stakeholders at the public hearing to participate actively in the program, as provides them with a platform to contribute to the constitution review process.
