Popular leading non-governmental charity organisation for Muslim women in Nigeria, Bountiis Charity Initiative, hosted the third edition of its flagship parenting roundtable, with the theme; “Rise & Thrive, Clapping With One Hand.”
Access24 reports that the free workshop which took place in Lagos State, brought together dozens of single mothers, widows, divorcees, and women where they openly shared the unspoken struggles of solo parenting, mental overwhelm, and digital-age challenges.
Beyond the panel session organised by Bouttiis initiative, the event featured breakout sessions, reflections, and wellness support that seems to have left participants restored, hopeful, and inspired.
Speaking during the panel sessions led by seasoned speakers at the event, popular Educator and Advocate, Mrs. Shakirah Olajobi, reminded mothers that tantrums, disobedience are a normal part of childhood, not a measure of failed parenting.
Also educating the women, who were mostly Muslims, Counselor & Wellness Coach, Mrs. Bushrah Bombata delivered a deeply healing message, telling women; “You’re not broken — you’re just clapping with one hand. Rebuild yourself first and stop waiting for external validation.”
Similarly, Digital Technologist & Parenting Coach, Dr. Falilat Jimoh, urged women not to outsource parenting to devices, stating that digital peace starts with them, by understanding what their child consumes online.
Earlier, the Program Director at Bountiis, Dr. Maryam Adekola-Alatise, said the event wasn’t just about information, but was about restoration, noting that the gathering was themed ‘Clapping With One Hand’ because parenting alone is often thankless, but deeply sacred.
