Arsenal started the 2023/2024 Football Season in style as they won the first silverware of the season.

The curtain-raiser of the 2023/24 season, went underway on Sunday, as the first silverware of the season was up for grabs when Manchester City took on Arsenal in the Community Shield at the Wembley Stadium.
Manchester City scored the first goal of the match when Cole Palmer, aged 21 years and 92 days, played the ball past Arsenal goalkeeper, Aaron Ramsdale, to become the youngest player to score in the Community Shield since Cesc Fàbregas for Arsenal against Chelsea in 2005.
City’s joy was cut short after Leandro Trossard’s 90 + 7-minute shot got deflected by Manuel Akanji, to give Arsenal a 1-1 draw, which led to penalties.
Arsenal went on to beat defending champions City 4-1 to win the Community Shield.
This will be the third Community Shield meeting between the two sides, Arsenal won the previous two, 4-0 at Highbury in 1934 and 3-0 at Wembley in 2014, the London club added the third win with Sunday's penalty shootouts.

The Community Shield fixtures the winners of the Premier League taking on the holders of the FA Cup.
Since City won both trophies last season, they had to had to take on Premier League runners-up Arsenal.
Access24 reports that the 2023-24 Premier League season would begin on Friday, August 11, 2023, with Manchester City traveling to Burnley.
The last day of the season will be May 19, 2024, when all teams will play at the same time.
