British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said Friday that the government would close all of Monday’s transport corridors as part of measures to stem the spread of the lethal coronavirus.
According to the BBC, travel corridors were launched during the summer to allow people traveling from certain countries with low numbers of COVID-19 cases to travel to the United Kingdom without needing to quarantine on arrival.
Closing means that everyone traveling from abroad would have to show evidence of a negative COVID-19 test before beginning.

The United Kingdom has become one of the most afflicted nations by the pandemic, with more than 84,000 people killed.
In November, the government enforced partial lockdowns on England, as the government was racing to contain spiking diseases, although controls were also imposed in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Meanwhile, sanctions are also costing the UK economy.
The economy plunged by 2.6 per cent in November on coronavirus constraints, official figures showed Friday, stoking concerns that the new virus lockout could cause a double-dip recession.
